USD will study drug withdrawal U.S. Senator Tim Johnson has announced that the University of South Dakota will receive a $241,461 research grant to study to study brain sensitivity caused by stress due to drug withdrawal.
�The University of South Dakota is a highly-regarded research institution,� Johnson said. �Funding research such as this is crucial to furthering our understanding of the dangers of drug abuse. Studying the consequences of drug abuse, as well as the effects of drug withdrawal, allows us to better address the problem of drug abuse in South Dakota and across the country.�
The grant is being awarded through the Drug Abuse Research Program within the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). NIDA is part of the National Institutes of Health.
