Vermillion Teeners continue winning; record is 21-2 On Tuesday, Vermillion traveled to Wagner for a double header.
Vermillion claimed a come-from-behind victory in game one winning 4-2. In game two, Vermillion took control early and posted a 10-0 win.
The Vermillion 13-14 Teeners went 3-1 in the Bob Tereshinski VFW Teener Baseball Classic at Riverside Baseball Stadium in Yankton.
Vermillion met Parkston in the opening game on Friday evening. Parkston jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play. Both teams played well defensively and even though Vermillion was able to get within 5-4 after four innings, they could never grab the lead. The final was 7-5 in Parkston�s favor.
Playing back to back games meant Vermillion would have to regroup quickly. The Yankton Reds, the host team, saw Vermillion bat around in the first inning and put up four runs. Yankton was held in check as only 15 batters stepped to the plate as Vermillion added seven more runs to end the game after four innings at 11-0.
Dakota Valley was the noon opponent for Vermillion on Saturday. Vermillion jumped out quickly scoring seven runs in the first. Solid pitching and good defense enabled Vermillion to retire 12 of the 13 batters they faced. Vermillion added three runs in the second and won 10-0 in four innings.
Norfolk was Vermillion's final opponent and again Vermillion jumped out early scoring four in the first, five in the second, and six in the third. Norfolk was kept in check as they had three batters reach safely. The game ended after three innings with Vermillion claiming a 15-0 victory.
On Monday night at Prentis Park, Vermillion met Lennox under seemingly clear skies. Vermillion was able to score in every at bat as they scored 12 runs in the contest. With threatening weather headed for Vermillion, the game was called after four innings with Vermillion claiming a 12-0 win.
Vermillion travels to Elk Point on Thursday and is at the Pipestone Watertower Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Vermillion's record stands at 21-2.
