Area 4-H'ers participate in presentation contest The 2005 Clay County 4-H Public Presentation Contest was held July 15 at the 4-H Center in Vermillion.
Ten 4-H members from Clay, Union, Bon Homme, and Turner counties presented demonstrations, public speaking, or illustrated talks.
Demonstrations receiving purple ribbons were: Patrick Morrison, �Cooking 101,� and Lara Rommereim (Union), �Not Just Any Grilled Cheese.�
Receiving purple ribbons for public speaking were: Emily Miller, �Put Some Zip in Your Diet,� and Andy Jensen, �Beef: What it Taught Me.�
Illustrated talks that received purples were: Taylor Geu, �The Beast Within,� Sydney Schmitz (Bon Homme), �Put Me In, Coach,� Pearl Gaidelis, �Making Money as a Youth in Agriculture,� Emily Miller, �Up in Smoke,� Andy Jensen, �Heaven vs. Hell: Foot & Mouth Disease.�
Illustrated talks receiving blue ribbons were: Kelsy Fallan and Ashley Ouellette, �Healthy 4-H Smile,� and Ali Ries (Turner), �Does the pH
of Soil Determine Plant Growth?�
Participants who received purple ribbons are now eligible to compete at the public presentation contest at the 2005 South Dakota State Fair in Huron Sept. 3-6.
Judges for the contest were Lavyne Rada of Beresford and Stacy Hellmann of Yankton.
