Area event benefits youth An upcoming annual event will benefit youth in Clay and Union County. The Big Friends-Little Friends youth mentoring organization is hosting its eighth annual bike ride and second annual 5/10k fun run on Saturday, Aug. 20 , starting at the National Guard Armory.
Registration starts at 7 a.m., with runners and walkers leaving at 8 a.m., and the riders leaving at 8:30 a.m. The bike ride features 6 different lengths, from 8 to 53 miles, all on blacktop. Detailed maps and signs on the routes make it a very enjoyable ride. The event has drawn riders from four states and continues to grow. The bike ride and run are supported by many area businesses in the tri-state area, and all proceeds support the mentoring program.
