Clubs and Organizations Clubs Neyhart addresses visually impaired group
The Visually Impaired Support meeting was held Monday, Aug. 14 at the Senior Citizen Center at 1 p.m. Sandy Neyhart of the South Dakota Human Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, was a guest speaker. She discussed various devices that could enable people with visual problems in everyday tasks, gave information about the Charles Bonnet Syndrome, a little known symptom which can affect about 12 percent of those who have macular degeneration at some time in their life, and offered to help the group in its goals to meet with other support groups in this area of the state. Chairman Jim Grabowski brings a wealth of knowledge to the group with his training in the Hines Institute and offers information about new products or resources that could be useful to members of the group. The group meets every third Monday at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. You may call Grabowski at 624-8129 if you have any questions.
Senior Citizens Center weekly card party
On Aug. 10, there were 16 bridge and 17 pitch players. Winners at bridge were: first � Shirley Riehle; second � Adeline Isaacson; third � Lola Christensen; blind bogey � Meryl Reed; and low � Marilyn Siecke. No one shot the moon during the pitch games. Refreshments were furnished by Barbara Kronaizl. All seniors are invited to join the party every Wednesday.
