One Book South Dakota 2005 presents a book discussion of The Work of Wolves, by Kent Meyers. This year's nomination will be discussed on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. The program will be lead by Jamie Sullivan from Mount Marty College in Yankton. Anyone interested may register and borrow a copy of this book from the library.
The VPL Book Club will meet again on Thursday, Sept. 22. This month's selection is the national bestseller, Great Plains, by Ian Frazier. With a unique blend of intrepid adventure, tongue-in-cheek humor, and wide-eyed wonder, Frazier takes his readers on a journey through the vast and myth-inspiring Great Plains of North America. It is truly an expedition that reveals the heart of the American West.
Celebrate Banned Books Week Sept. 24-30. Our freedom to read promotion has been an annual event since 1982. Special programs include a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Party on Monday, Sept. 26 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Join us for some "Wonka-style" treats and other Roald Dahl fun.
On Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. a young adult book discussion and a movie are planned to be held in the Community Room.
