House fire leads to drug arrest A house fire in Wakonda tipped local law enforcement into making a drug arrest.
On Saturday, Sept. 10, Wakonda Fire units were paged to a house fire in Wakonda. Clay County Sheriff's units were also dispatched.
The house, located at 402 Iowa Street in Wakonda, received minimal damage. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
Information from witnesses present precipitated an investigation and ultimately a search warrant to be served at the residence with the purpose of searching for illegal drugs.
On Monday, Sept. 12, Clay County sheriff's deputies searched the residence and found live marijuana plants, processed marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
The occupant of the residence, Angela Grider, age 30, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and ingestion. She was transported to the Clay County Jail where she was booked and released on a PR bond.
