Suchy, a North Dakotan in his late 20s, has traveled the country widely for several years singing and playing "pop-tinged" folk songs, as one critic decribed them, and Delta-style blues. He accompanies himself on acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, and harmonica.
Suchy, who played at the Sioux River Folk Festival in August, has appeared at the Winnepeg Folk Festival and at other festivals, coffee houses, and clubs from New York to California and from Florida to Washington. He released his fourth solo album, Head for Home, last year.
The McNeills, of Springfield, regularly perform original and classic songs of the pop, folk and country genres at Gayville Hall, where John is emcee. They have opened for Suchy's father, the well known folksinger Chuck Suchy, in Gayville.
Gayville Hall is at 502 Washington Street in Gayville. Reserved seats are $12.50. Call 605-267-2859. Tickets are $10 at the door.
