In the "B" preliminary, the junior varsity, coached by Lori Jerred, won 2 � 1 by 20-25, 27-25, 15-6. She recognizes the following players for their contributions in the match: Digs � Kristina Blythe , 11; Stacy Bottolfson � six Ks and Brittany Bye � nine Ks; Bye had four aces, and Denell Dykstra had three; Rachel Odens had four blocks; and Raychel Lorenz had nine set assists.
"A great come from behind victory!" exclaimed the coach. Their record is 2 � 1.
Head Coach Lenni Billberg was very satisfied with the varsity's early performance.
"We fought an impressive battle in the gymnasium's oppressive heat," she said. She chose to recognize several participants: "Leading the way for the Ladies in Red were Paige Prosser and Kinsey Weydert, while Alicia Brown was also outstanding. Prosser rallied the troops, coming off the bench to have her best career night. Weydert had 30 assists for the offense, and Brown had 14 digs and seven blocks on defense."
In the match, Arial Hofman registered eight digs, 16 points on serve, 14 passes, and three aces. Prosser had 14 attacks, six kills, six passes, eight digs, two blocks, 10 sv pts, and two aces.
Michelle Olson had 19 P, 16 A, six K, 11 POS, four B, and seven digs; besides Weydert's 30 set assists, she had 15 POS, four aces, and five digs. Brown conributed 17 P, 20 A, seven assists, in addition to her digs and blocks; Brittney Babb recorded three P, 11 A, three K, four D, two B, seven POS, one ace; Krista Froke had four P, 20 A, 11 K, four assists, two D, and 3 sv pts.
With the win, the team's season record is 3 � 1.
