Unclaimed property hotline established

"The major goal of the Division of Unclaimed Property is to return as much property as possible to its rightful owners and to do so with as little red tape and expense to the owners as possible. In keeping with that philosophy I have installed an in-state toll free number in my office to help taxpaying citizens find their property without having to pay toll charges," said State Treasurer Vern Larson.

The new Toll Free Hotline number is 1-866-357-2547. The number can be used for claim requests and processing or to search up to five names for unclaimed property or to just ask an unclaimed property question.

Anyone with internet access can view and claim property from the State Treasurer's Unclaimed Property database at www.sd-treasurer.com. Anyone looking for property outside of South Dakota should access www.missingmoney.com or www.unclaimed.org.
