Sophomore Ashley Ervin (Western Springs, IL) scored her seventh goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Brooke Youds (Maple Grove, MN) at 7:55 to open USD's attack.
Then three and a half minutes later, sophomore Taryn Ketter (Columbus, NE) scored on a penalty kick to put USD up, 2-0 at the 11:22 mark. Ketter's shot bounced off the post to the left of the Vikings goalie and went in for her first goal of the season.
Less than a minute later, at 12:11, senior Beth Schuster (Omaha, NE) scored the first of her two goals on the day, assisted by Betsy Blackler (Rapid City), to cap the first period scoring.
In the very physical second half, the Coyotes, playing down one player for the final 34 minutes, scored two goals to cement the victory.
Schuster scored her second goal of the day and third of the season at 70:38, assisted by freshman Angela O'Loughlin (Broomfield, CO) and Ervin.
Then, to finish the scoring, freshman Sarah Halbach (St. Paul, MN) scored for the fifth time this season, unassisted at 75:04.
In goal, freshman Ann Opsahl (Yankton) picked up her first win and shutout of her career, by making three saves and playing all 90 minutes.
Augustana's Lisa Jarovski fell to 0-2 on the season by allowing five goals and making five saves in goal.
Chelsey Shockman and Mallory Born led the Vikings with two shots each.
USD returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 25, when they play North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND at 1 p.m.
