VHS freshmen lose 8-0 to West Central By Jim Prosser On Thursday, Sept. 8 at the VHS football field, the weather was hot but breezy for the game pairingthe West Central Trojan freshmen and Tanager freshman team.
Both schools featured a ferocious defensive game and the final score, 8- 0 in favor of West Central, was apparent.
"We moved the ball well offensively, then we would make a mistake that cost us yards," said coach Jason Huska. "We had too many penalties in key situations.
"Defensively, we did a good job. We had one breakdown, but overall did a nice job," he said.
Andrew Eidem led the offfense, gaining 73 yards on 18 carries. Mike Oberle gained 28 yards on four carries. Tony Thomas was 2/9 passing for 24 yards, as Tyler Steele and Greg Anderson each had a 12 yard reception.
On defense: Eidemhad five tackles; Oberleand Steele each had three Ts; Corey Taggart andChris Cameron wereeach credited with twoTs.
Coach Jason Huska was pleased with the team's performance. "Coach Cameron and I are satisfied with our first game performance. We needed this game to see where we're at and what we need to improve on," he said.
