VHS softball scores By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanager softball club team continued their winning ways in a double header on Sept. 11, as they faced Tea Area and Watertown at the Sherman Park complex in Sioux Falls.
The first game was a high scoring contest with the Tanagers topping Tea Area 14-3. Jenny Bye was the winning pitcher giving up three runs on four hits with seven Ks in four innings. Her teammates put on a super display of offense.
Two players scored three runs each and three plated two runs each. Jenny Bye reached first base on two hits and a walk, scoring three runs; Alicia Brown went one for three with three runs scored and two RBIs; Britt Bye � 1 for 3, two R, one RBI; Brittany Campbell � 1 for 3, two runs; Kayla Munger � two walks, two runs; Chelsea Houska � 1 for 3, one run.
Game two was a real laffer as Houska pitched a shutout, one hitter, registering five Ks in three innings. Needless to say, the Tanagers scored 10 runs in the first inning, and coasted to a 16-0 final to claim the victory.
Vermillion scoring stats were: Houska � 3 walks, 3 runs; Brianna Brinkman � 2 runs; Jenny Bye � 1 for 2, 2 runs; Donica Crichton 2 walks, 2 runs. Everyone on the roster scored at least one run.
MaryAnn Bierle went 2 for 2, 1 run; Campbell � 2 for 3, 1 run; Britt Bye � 1 for 1, 1 run; Brown � 2 for 3, 1 run.
The season record is 4 � 0.
