Wakonda doing its share to help Katrina victims
Two local businesses are doing their share to help. First Premier Bank, which has a branch in Wakonda, has pledged up to $1 million to benefit the Red Cross.

Donations may be made at the bank Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

TJ's Corner Store, owned by John and Trisha White, has pledged to match donations up to $500 to help out a different sort of victim, the animals. Experts estimate that thousands of our winged and four-legged friends are in danger and missing, and the Whites hope that they can help in any way possible.

Also, the Wakonda Student Council will be selling various Eagle merchandise with the bulk of the profits to go to the Red Cross. The council will be selling wristbands and car magnets at the home football games in Wakonda against Viborg and Chester.

Get out and support these groups they help your fellow Americans.
