4-H'ers plan Katrina relief
On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. the Jolly Juniors and Juniorettes 4-H club met at the Extension building kitchen. Major Susan Larsen started the meeting out with a presentation about her many overseas military stays.

Ellen Hanson filled in as president and called the meeting to order. Emily Holoch led the Pledge of Allegiance and Katie Van Balen led the 4-H pledge. Roll call topic was "What is your favorite class at school?"

A treasurer's report was read by Cyndi Dendinger. Several thank yous were given for the community service work done in August � Fair and September � Food Pantry Drive at Jones' Food Center.

New Business: Discussion took place on what our club wants to do for National 4-H Week � Oct. 2-8, including a possible library display and Dakota Days float.

A reminder was given that 4-H journals and award applications are due to Pam or Cyndi by Friday, Sept. 16.

Discussion took place on the club making a monetary donation to the Hurricane Katrina victims through S.D. State 4-H. Marley Hanson and Emily Holoch made motions on different monetary amounts to donate. Ashley Sorensen seconded Emily Holoch's monetary motion. The motion was carried. Cyndi Dendinger will take care of this since Sarah Anderson, treasurer, is in college now.

Discussion also took place on what the club wants to do in the new 4-H year, community service, activities, etc., Pam, Cyndi and Carol Sorensen will be working on the new year's club plans soon. Lots of good comments.

Sarah Rosacker volunteered to bring two dozen cookies and Emily Holoch volunteered to bring two dozen cookies to the Saint Agnes Autumn Classic winner, in September.

Ashley Sorensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Emily Holoch seconded it. The meeting was adjourned.

Ellen Hanson gave a demonstration "Pumpkin Puss." Emily Holoch gave a demonstration "Does Age Really Matter?"

Katie Van Balen presented a judging school in the Animal Nature Science area.

A group picture was taken with food pantry donations.

The next club meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Extension building kitchen. Sarah Rosacker will give a demonstration. Ellen Hanson will present a judging school. Election of officers will take place. Everyone was encouraged to bring a friend.
