Alternates are Patrick Morrison, tenor; Adam Alsdorf, bass; Jeanne Renaudin, alto; and Courtney Nelson, soprano.
This year the songs consist of Be Thou My Vision by John Rutter, The Russian song Bogoroditse Devo, Raduysa, the famous poem, O Captain! My Captain! by Walt Whitman; Song of Triumph by Dale Grotenhuis; Hallelujah from Mount of Olives by Beethoven; America the Beautiful, by Samuel Ward and Praise His Holy Name, by Keith Hampton.
The All Staters attended the All-State Workshop in Vermillion on the USD campus. After reading through the music all day it seemed to get easier for them right up to the rehearsal concert, at Slagle Hall in front of a small audience, directed by Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Hardent, both directors of the USD music program.
All the delegates are excited for the All-State Concert that's going to take place in Sioux Falls this year, in front of thousands of people coming from all over South Dakota. The concert will also be televised.
Every school in the state sends its best student vocalists to sing at the concert. Only delegates sing in the concert, but both alternates and delegates tour around the schools together.
The All-State Concert in Sioux Falls is on Oct. 29 and the school tour dates are the last weekend in October.
