Sixteen county judging teams participated in the respective State Judging Contest. Five teams and seven individuals placed in the top 10 of their respective contests. Ashley Sorensen placed eighth in Beginner Photography; Stacey Joy placed eighth in Senior Photography and seventh in Senior FCS; Blaine Bottolfson placed fifth in Beginner Visual Arts; Andy Jensen placed 10th in Senior Horticulture, while Patrick Morrison placed third in the same contest; and Kelsy Fallan placed fifth in the Junior Livestock contest.
Judging teams placing in the top ten were Senior Photography placing fifth; Beginner Visual Arts in third place, Senior Horticulture placing first while Junior Livestock placed third and Senior Livestock placed sixth. Ashley Ouellette participated in the State Fashion Revue contest and received a blue ribbon on her outfit.
Abby Ouellette and Chad Peterson were involved in the State Special Foods contest. Abby received a blue ribbon on her dish, Salisbury Steak, and Chad was presented with a purple ribbon on his dish, "South Dakota Side Dish."
Participating in the Public Presentation contests were Pearl Gaidelis and Taylor Geu. Both Pearl and Taylor received purple ribbons on their presentations. Pearl's presentation was titled "Making Money as a Youth in Agriculture" and the title of Taylor's presentation was "The Beast Within."
