Two major items relative to sources of income for the club were on the agenda. The tailgate supper, a tradition that has been observed through the years, will be Friday evening, Oct. 14 as the Irene-Wakonda Eagles face the Viborg Vikings in the first home game on the Wakonda field. It is also Parents' Night.
Santa's Shack follows closely as it will be observed on Sunday, Oct. 16. Thirty-three vendors were reported as having reserved space for the event as of that day. Quite possibly by the day of the event that number will have increased.
This is a big event for the town as it brings many people to Wakonda for the numerous and fine items offered by the vendors.
Yard of the Month
The Yard of the Month award for October was given to the Tim and Chery Vanderkooi home. Their place is located at 206 Dakota Street.
Heritage Manor added several items to an already busy October calendar. The Fall Festival will be held at the Manor on Sunday, Oct. 23. On Oct. 26, there will be a special Medicare informational meeting which is open to the public at 1 p.m.
Club members express their thanks to all who bring aluminum cans to the can receptacle collection site located in the alley behind the Senior Citizens building.
