Community Foundation leaders attend meeting
The South Dakota Community Foundation recently hosted its first annual Community Savings Account Conference at the Ramkota River Centre in Pierre.

Community leaders from across the state attended the day-long conference, which provided educational sessions on the economy and investments, planned giving, volunteer fund raising, and community stewardship. Roger Kozak from the Vermillion Area Community Foundation was in attendance.

According to Bob Sutton, executive director of the South Dakota Community Foundation, "This conference gave community leaders a chance to get together and visit about strategies that have worked in their communities in regard to foundation management," Sutton said. "The attendees work hard as volunteer fund raisers, and have collected over $13 million to date in 70 community foundations from across South Dakota."

The South Dakota Community Foundation is a public non-profit organization established in 1987. The Foundation commingles money from over 250 funds for investment and administration purposes. Earnings from approximately $45 million are available for distribution for non-profit, charitable and scholarship purposes.
