Cross country teams place high at SSC Invitational
Nineteen teams � nine Class A and 10 Class B schools � were represented at the invitational meet in South Sioux City on Saturday, Sept. 29, with competition in both boys' and girls' divisions and varsity, JV (ninth and tenth), and middle school sections.

Vermillion ran in the B Class and the girls fielded a complete team. Norfolk Catholic was first and the Tanagers second in that race.

Individual place results: Katarina Gombocz first, Emily Renner seventh, Annie Roche 10th, Sara Day 11th, Hannah Nehlich-Arabba 12th, and Sophie Nehlich-Arabba 14th. There were 49 entrants in the race.

Only two girl runners were entered in the JV division. Chelsea Gauer placed sixth and Sarah Bye seventh among 49 runners in the division.

The MS race had 31 girls entered. Steffanie Donahoe at ninth, Julie Renner at 13th and Rosie Ahmed at 19th were the VMS entrants.

The boys' varsity team had the necessary members to be assigned a third place in the standings and the following individuals and their places among 60 runners were: Andrew Manning fifth; Ryan Powell 12th, Casey Carlson 13th, C.J. Harden 35th, D.J. Donahoe 44th and Jeff Donnelly 50th.

Among the 20 JV runners, Raleigh Tiahrt placed 14th. Among the 28 MS runners, Kevin Callahan was 21st.
