Eagles trounce Raiders 45-0 Friday
The game started with the Eagles on defense. Three plays later the Raiders had to punt. Junior Adam Polley fielded the punt on the 25 and picked up some blocks to help him weave 55 yards for a touchdown and a 6-0 lead.

The Eagle defense continued to dominate the opposing offense, and four minutes later Shaun Hessman powered in from five yards out for the second TD of the game. Mitch Hessman made the score 18-0 minutes later when he took a pitch to the left side, saw an opening and cut back against the grain for a 30-yard scoring scamper.

The Eagles were not done scoring in the first period. With nine seconds remaining Polley scored his second TD with a 20-yard run to bring the Eagles to a 25-0 lead.

Gayville-Volin was able to put together two first downs in the second quarter and keep the ball out of the Eagles hands.

However, as soon as I/W did regain possession, Polley took the ball on a 55-yard scoring run behind some nice blocks on a trap play. Aaron Ness split the uprights for the P.A.T. to raise the score to 32-0.

The Eagles took over the ball with a few minutes left. The second group of offensive players put together a good drive and with time expiring, senior Clint Schroeder tacked on six more points with a 32-yard run. With no seconds left on the clock, Ness kicked the ball for a one-point conversion to give the Eagles a 39-0 cushion.

The Eagles received the kick off to start the second half. The offense steadily drove down the field. Finally, Lane Stockland slipped several tackles and raced 20 yards for the Eagles last TD making the final score 45-0.

Defensively, Josh Wueste-wald and Polley had five and a half tackles a piece to lead the team. Polley lead the offense with 86 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Schroeder finished with 46 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

The Eagles travel to Alcester this Friday to take on the Alcester-Hudson Cubs.
