She began her interest as a child in LaCrosse, WI and continued it through studies at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, and on her own.
Several years ago, she submitted some of her pieces to the Clay County Fair and won several awards, including the "People's Choice Award." Dickie will answer your questions at a formal reception in her honor this Saturday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Following Kee's show, the Sletwold Hall will present the annual Veterans' Show of War Memorabilia and uniforms of our several branches of service. Artifacts and clothing on exhibit will be primarily from the permanent Collection of the W.H. Over Museum.
A few of these pieces are from the Civil War but most are from the 20th century. Of special interest is the gigantic flag that flew on the SS South Dakota in WWII.
The VFW Auxiliary is presenting the annual Veteran's Day Program at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11. The Friends of the Museum will offer morning tasties and music will be presented by Carrie and Deb Christiansen. Please call the museum, 677-5228, for any information regarding programs and shows held in and around the museum. All programs sponsored by the Friends are free and open to the public.
