Local physical therapists to host open house Oct. 18

October is a popular month for people to enjoy outdoor walking for pleasure. Walking is an excellent form of low impact exercise. New exercise programs may result in injury even to seeming healthy individuals, so before initiating a walking program or any other exercise program, consult your physician or a physical therapist.

Physical therapists are experts in movement and function. The therapist can assist you in developing an exercise program emphasizing prevention and treatment of new or chronic injuries.

The Physical Therapy department is excited to sponsor an open house for the public on Oct. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. During the open house, the public is invited obtain expert advice from the therapists concerning any individual exercise or wellness program.

The open house will be held in the Wellness area on the second floor of the old hospital. Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center and the Physical Therapy Department appreciate the trust and continued support the public has shown for this essential hospital based service.

Keeping our employees fit is also a priority. During the month of October, the Sioux Valley Vermillion physical therapists will be sponsoring a soup walk for Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center employees encouraging them to walk for exercise during their lunch time.
