The singers, ages 7 through 14 and representing eight area communities, are divided into a Preparatory Choir and a Concert Choir. Choral director is Lea Ann Schramm and Margaret Lyons is associate choral director.
This year's YCC Concert Choir includes (from Yankton unless otherwise noted) Dillon Beckmann, Kaitlyn Erickson, Lexi Fokken, Taylor Geu (Vermillion), Anne Gifford (Wausa, NE), Kallan Groseth, Naomi Havener, Taylor Hirsch, Alexandra Johnson, Brianna Kelly, Jillian King (Vermillion), AJ Kling, Hannah Lambertz, David Ludens (Springfield), Tiana Mason (Tyndall), Heidi Olson, Shelly Radack (Tyndall), Emily Schrempp (Hartington, NE), Hannah Schrempp (Hartington, NE), Brianna Shindler, Jayna Specht, David Steinkruger, Kayla Styles, Alyssa Trapp, Erika Trapp, Jennie Uhing (Hartington, NE), Daniel Vellek (Springfield), Matthew Watt, Sara Watt, and Laurel Wek.
Members of the Preparatory Choir are Garrett Adam, Sean Baumeister, Caitlin Britten (Vermillion), Shania Denton, Kaitlyn Frank, Bailey Franzen, Abigail Havener, Nicholas LaFave (Mission Hill), Rachel Orton, Elizabeth Pearson, Carly Peterson, Kimberly Stibral (Tabor), and Destiny Suing (Utica).
The 2005-2006 season is the 13th anniversary of the Yankton Children's Choir. It will feature multiple performances by both choirs. Upcoming performances include the Winter Concert, which will feature the Concert Choir, Preparatory Choir, and a premiere performance of a piece by Yankton composer Norm Wright with area bell choirs. This concert will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Summit Center Theatre.
Choir members performed at local radio stations to commemorate the National Anthem Day and recently invited family members to a potluck in recognition of National Family Table Day.
