McCook Lake resident receives S.D. Parks honor
David Blaeser of McCook Lake was recently honored as the 2005 Seasonal Employee of the Year by the South Dakota Division of Parks and Recreation. South Dakota State Parks Director Doug Hofer presented the award to Blaeser at the division's fall meeting earlier this month in Pierre.

Blaeser has been employed as a seasonal at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve for the past five seasons. According to park manager Dan Grewing, Blaeser has been an exceptional employee at the park.

"Dave's talents are tremendous and never ending," said Grewing. "He has an excellent work ethic and a positive attitude that shows through in all his work. Dave's dependability shines in whatever he does from maintenance of trails, to building and habitat improvements, to helping with the many school and tour groups that visit the area."

Grewing also thanked Blaeser for helping to create the trail system at Spirit Mound Historic Prairie, and for his part in the area's Bicentennial Commemoration in August 2004. According to Grewing, both were major projects where Blaeser's hard work, knowledge and dedication to customer service were instrumental in their success.

"Most state parks dream of a seasonal employee like Dave Blaeser," said Grewing. "He is knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and a very positive addition to our state park system. We are lucky to have him at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve."
