Carolyn Doris Jacobsen, 87, of Ottawa, IL, died Thursday morning, Oct. 13, 2005 in Vermillion.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa, IL, with Pastors David P. Raben, Bond Halderman and Gordon Carls officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation was from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Ottawa, IL and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Mrs. Jacobsen was born July 28, 1918, in Brooklyn, NY, to Gustav and Ella (Madsen) Larson. She married the Rev. Gilbert Norman Jacobsen on Oct. 26, 1941, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY.
He died July 25, 2000.� She was a retired telephone operator.�She was also an artist and a past member of the LaSalle County Arts and Crafts Guild.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the prayer chain ministry, the fellowship ministry and Lydia Circle of the church.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Ross) King of Vermillion; two sons, Dr. Paul (Jackie) Jacobsen of Scottsbluff, NE, and Pete (Debbie) Jacobsen of Spring Valley; five grandchildren, Daniel (Lisa) and Timothy King, Amanda (Mike) Jacobsen Wilson and Dustin Jacobsen, and Christopher Jacobsen; three great-grandchildren, Amanda King, Zechariah Wilson and Kassidy Wilson.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Peter Jacobsen. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Larson, and a brother, Douglas Larson.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Daniel King, Timothy King, Christopher Jacobsen and Amanda Wilson, a son-in-law, Ross King and dear friends, Rev. Gordon Carls and Ray Carlson.

Grace Elizabeth Glidden, 86, of Wakonda, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
Grace Collins was born May 6, 1919 in Tripp County to John and Margaret (Walsh) Collins. She graduated from Colome High School, and earned her degree as a registered nurse from McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. She married Joe Glidden on Aug. 19, 1946 in Clearfield.
Grace and Joe owned and operated Glidden's Market in Wakonda for many years. Grace retired from nursing in 1991 from Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Wakonda Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three sons, Jack (Ellen) Glidden of Sioux City, IA, Jim (Kathy) Glidden of Junction City, KS, and Tim (Kris) Glidden of Omaha, NE; two daughters, Peg (Cork) Kizer of Marshall, MN, and Liz (Hank) Zoellick of Crystal Lake, IL. She is also survived by two brothers, Jack and Bob Collins; four sisters, Annie Ulmer, Peg Nolan, Kath Steele and Joan Foltz; 27 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; a son, Bill; a daughter, Mary Ellen Matson; four brothers, Bill, Clem, Jim and Tom; and three sisters, Mary Newport, Patsy Knodell and Dorothy Almendinger; and two infant brothers.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wakonda. Burial followed in St. Patrick's South Cemetery, rural Wakonda.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 with a rosary at 7 p.m., all at the church. Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion was in charge of arrangements.
Irene Chamberlain, 67, of Vermillion, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005 at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital in Vermillion.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the First Baptist Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Sandy Aakre officiating.
Burial will follow in the BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the church. A prayer service will be held at the church at 7 p.m.
Irene Brewer was born Nov. 24, 1937 in Vermillion to Joseph I. and Mearl L. Clark Brewer.
She attended Vermillion schools, and did clerical work at The University of South Dakota. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Vermillion.
She married Donald Chamberlain May 16, 1953 in Vermillion.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Vermillion; a son and his wife, Michael and Young of Vermillion; four grandchildren, Andrea (Shon) Brown, St. Paul, MN, Adam Chamberlain, Overbrook, OK, Robert Chamberlain, Rapid City, and Kristen (Bob) Engebretson, Billings, MT; four great-grandchildren, Alysa, Hayden, Samantha and Cassie; a sister, Aileen (Herman) Hosek, Winner; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Brewer, Vermillion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, George W. Brewer, two sons, Larry and Billy Lee Chamberlain; and a brother, Richard Brewer.
