Tanager volleyball team goes 1-2 at SE Area Classic

The Vermillion volleyball A team was entered in the South East Area Classic, held in Harrisbrg, last Saturday, Sept. 24, where they won one and lost two, to finish seventh among the eight teams competing. P = pass, At = attack, A = ace, K = kill, B = block, D = dig, SP = point on serve.

In the first match against West Central, the Tanagers won 20-25, 25-23, 25-15.

Individual stats include: Paige Prosser who recorded 6 P, 9 SP, 2 A, and 4 D; Ariel Hofman � 19 P, 11 D; Kinsey Weydert � 3 At, 3 D, 16 set assists, 13 SP, 3 A; Michelle Olson � 10 P, 12 At, 3 K, 6 D, and 8 SP; Brittney Babb � 15 At, 4 K, 4 B. Also contributing were: Alicia Brown � 2 K, 3 B, 5 D, 8 SP, 1 A; and Krista Froke had 23 At, 11 K, and 5 D.

The second match, against Lennox, was a three-game loss (25-21, 21-25, 23-25). Stats for the Tanagers were: Olson led with 10 SP, 7 K, 18 At, 2D; Weydert � 20 set assists, 4 D, 12 SP, 2 A; Froke � 9 At,7 P, 8 K, 8 SP; Babb � 7 P, 15 At, 7 K, 3 D; Brown � 10 P, 10 At, 4 K, 6 SP; Brittni Stewart � 9 At, 3 K, 2 D; Prosser � 3 D, 9 SP, 4 A.

Match #3 had the Tanagers against Milbank, a three-game loss, 15-25, 22-25, 11-25. Stats for the match were: Nicole Orr � 7 P, 4 D; Prosser � 8 P, 3 At, 1 K, 3 D, 7 SP, 2 A; Weydert � 4 At, 6 D, 15 set assists, 4 SP; Olson � 12 P, 15 At, 6 K, 4 D; Froke � 7 P, 8 At, 5 K, 7 D, 8 SP; Babb � 11 P, 15 At, 5 K; Brittni Stewart � 12 At, 5 K, 1 B, 2 D; Brown � 9 At, 4 K, 7 D, 7 SP, 3 A.

After the SE Classic, the team's season record stands at six wins, eight losses.
