Senior men play nine despite morning rain
Tuesday, Oct. 4 dawned with rain but it moved away and though the skies threatened the seniors got in nine holes on The Bluffs front nine. The 32 seniors made 10 teams who made eight birdies and enjoyed great companionship.
Leading scores were 36 by two teams. First was Harlan Schott, Dave Raabe, and Lloyd Helseth followed by the threesome of Elmer Mount, Mo Marcotte, and Dave Zimmer.
Next came two teams at 37. Ahead on tie breaker was Ross King, Louie Fostvedt and Jack Stewart with Pete Berglund, Jim Reed, Roger Kozak and Maurice Erickson following closely behind.
Then two teams with 38 got prizes. First Turk Pilker, Ray Lynn, Bob Boone and Guy Button; and finally Vern Holter, Van Pierce and Dick Kellogg.
Several good birdie putts were sunk, but the shot of the day goes to Harlan Schott for a 45-foot on hole #3.
There is a chance of frost later this week, but plan to be out again by 1 p.m. next Tuesday for more fun golf.
Wednesday Ladies enjoy activities
There were 18 ladies for luncheon and desserts (great as usual) were provided by Helen Brown and Joanne Beringer.
There was no golf as it was raining too much. There will be unorganized golf on Wednesday morning for us ladies who wish to golf. The club will open at 9 a.m. and they will get us on the course. Hope to see you all then.
Eleven players met for Progressive Mexican Train Dominoes with Barb Boone staying low while Rula Hatch soared. Quarter-round winners were Vaneta Youngworth, Barb Larson, Mary Bartels, Jayne Merrigan, Lynn Hatle, Mary Lea Hennies and Barb Boone. The laughter and companionship of this group of players will by sorely missed until we meet again next May.
Golf, dominoes and hopefully bridge will restart first Wednesday in May 2006. Golf tee off will be at 9 a.m. Luncheon will restart then also with Tammy from Cherry Street Grille serving us.
It has been great being your chairperson for the past two years. Mary Bartels will be taking over next year. I will still be there as her back-up if she needs me.
Also remember I will still represent the Wednesday morning ladies (golf, dominoes and bridge) at the Golf Advisory meetings. Let me know if you have questions and I will report back as to what is in process.
