A highlight of the Vermillion Fire Department's Open House last Thursday was a tour of its new Ivan Pierce Fire Tower. The structure includes a four story tower and a residential section with a first floor burn room and a second floor maze room. Constructed by local firemen, the building cost $135,000, and is being funded by a $50,000 Ivan Pierce donation, $25,000 from the city of Vermillion and $65,000 of local fire department funds. Citizens toured the William J. Radigan Fire and EMS station and viewed trucks and other vehicles there while munching on free hot dogs.
