USD joins a prestigious national group of schools including Yale, Stanford University, and Cornell University, but enjoys the distinction of being the only South Dakota school listed.
According to the publication,"There are many things that can make a school interesting be it academic strengths, student body, or specialty programs."
Terisa Remelius, dean of students at USD, echoed Newsweek-Kaplan's praise and added,"I am not surprised to find that the university is the only school in South Dakota recognized for this distinction. I was drawn to work here because of the incredible student body and comprehensive academics.
"We can all take great pride in being affiliated with a school that really cares for all students and wants to provide this type of interesting, engaging environment," Remelius said.
A complete listing of recognized schools is available in the special edition of Newsweek-Kaplan, "America's Hottest Colleges: New 2006 Edition," on newsstands now.
