USD swimming finishes second at relay meet
The South Dakota men's and women's swimming team finished second at the NCC Relay Meet held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, on Saturday, Oct. 15. Minnesota State, Mankato hosted the relay meet.

The USD team finished second in the competition with 234 points. St. Cloud State won the meet with 306 combined points. USD won six of 19 relay events, which involved combined men's and women's relay squads as well as men's and women's relays. USD also had six second-place relay finishes.

The six relays won by USD included:

Mixed 800-Free Relay: First, 7:48.12 (Mary Klima, Leavenworth, KS; Eric Thorsen, Eden Prairie, MN; Brianna Wass, Douglas, WY; and David Lind, Kearney, NE).

Mixed 200-Free Relay: First, 1:34.73 (Stacy Bjorlie, Austin, MN; Pat Albertson, Bozeman, MT; Jenny Kohlbrand, Newcastle, WY; Gregory Mercer, Port Orchard, WA).

Men's 300-Medley Relay: First, 2:52.41 (John Murman, Lincoln, NE; Josh Fleming, Lincoln, NE; and Curtis Benson, Omaha, NE).

Mixed 850-Crescendo Relay: First, 7:57.45 (Kohlbrand; Mark Bryant, Omaha, NE; Klima; and Kyle Anderson, Portland, OR).

Men's 1,500 Free Relay: First, 15:32.57 (Anderson, Thorsen, and Lind).

Mixed 400-Free Relay: First, 3:29.55 (Leita Rolfe, Newcastle, WY; Albertson; Bjorlie, and John Murman).

The South Dakota Swimming and Diving Team will host Northern Iowa at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at the DakotaDome.
