Free credit card literacy program still available to local schools

Schools can still sign up for the free credit card literacy program being offered by the state treasurer's office, according to State Treasurer Vern Larson. "My office will provide at no cost to our schools, a teacher's guide, a power point presentation and an individual work book for each student who participates in the program."

"As our sons and daughters prepare to leave for college, trade schools or enter the work force, they will be faced with many new and different choices. One of the many new responsibilities that they need to address is credit and credit cards. Many young people find out too late that easy credit now, can effect how they live for years and years to come," said Larson.

Parents are urged to contact their local school to find out if this free educational opportunity will be offered to their children.

Any schools that have not reserved material to teach this class can still do so by contacting the state treasurer's office in Pierre at 605-773-3378.
