Orr named USD’s employee of month

John Orr, crew leader in Facilities Management, was named the Career Services Employee of the Month for November at The University of South Dakota. President James W. Abbott presented the award to Orr during a reception with his co-workers.

Orr, who lives in Wakonda, has worked in Facilities Management at USD for 20 years. He was nominated for the honor by the Registrar's Office. The office nominated Orr because of his exemplary dedication to the job and particularly for his help in the recent move of the Registrar's Office from Slagle Hall to the Belbas Center.

"Through his excellent management and his faithful attention to detail, John shows his dedication to the university, the faculty, staff and students," said Carmen Howard, USD's registrar. "USD is most fortunate to have people like John Orr. He is a valuable asset and worthy of this recognition."

Orr lives in Wakonda with his wife Diane, also an employee at The U. They have three grown children, two daughters and a son. The Orrs have five grandchildren and one on the way.
