Prosser, Merrigan are Students of the Month

Paige Prosser and Chris Merrigan were named as the Vermillion High School's Students of the Month for September. First Bank & Trust in Vermillion sponsors the program honoring VHS seniors, who have shown leadership in the classroom and in their extra-curricular activities. Each recipient receives a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust for their post-high school education.

Prosser "is enthusiastic, has a wonderful work ethic and works well with everyone in class," according to her faculty endorsement. Her parents are Gary and Sheila Prosser.

Prosser's extensive list of activities includes golf, Sunday School teacher, Honors Student, and various choir groups. Additionally, she has been a varsity captain of both the basketball and volleyball teams.

Merrigan's endorsement indicated that he "is always thoroughly prepared, incredibly attentive, thoughtful and mature. He thinks critically and loves discussion." His college plan is to attend the University of Minnesota-Morris to major in history with the eventual goal of becoming a teacher.

He has been active in choir, theater, football, Natural Helpers, and the National Honor Society. He also received the Governor's Leadership Award. His parents are Tom and Mary Merrigan.
