We welcome short stories, poetry, creative non-fiction (essays), and black-and-white drawings or photographs, with preference given to works with a South Dakota connection. Note that the only form of payment is a copy of the magazine in which the published work appears.
Mail submissions to The Vermillion Literary Project, Dakota Hall 212, University of South Dakota, 414 E. Clark Street, Vermillion, SD 57069-2390 (or drop them off in Dakota 212, English Department, USD campus).
Or email them as rtf attachments to email@example.com. All text submissions should be typed; prose should be double-spaced. Manuscripts and artwork are submitted at the author's or artist's own risk and will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed, postage-paid return envelope. Deadline for submissions: Dec. 1.
IMPORTANT: Because we use a blind submission process, with the editorial staff not knowing who submitted work, we prefer that you include your name and contact information on a separate page, and nowhere on the submissions themselves.
The Vermillion Literary Project is a non-profit literary organization at the University of South Dakota, consisting of USD student volunteers of all majors, that serves both the USD community and the general public.
In addition to publishing an annual literary magazine, the VLP hosts a radio show and holds poetry slams and other events. For more information, visit http://www.usd. edu/~projlit.
