Vermillion police are investigating rape attempt

The Vermillion Police Department is investigating a reported burglary and attempted rape which occurred at 1 a.m. on Monday, Nov 7.

An unknown subject entered a woman's residence in the 800 block of E. Duke Street where he attempted to rape the woman.

The victim resisted by striking the suspect who fled the area prior to the arrival of the police.

The suspect is described as a Native American male, 5'9'' tall, medium built, black hair with a buzz cut, a mustache, wearing glasses and a red shirt.
