Volleyball ends season with loss in districts
This year's Irene-Wakonda volleyball season ended at districts. For the first time ever, the Eagles played in the Lennox gym and in a Class "A" Tournament. The blue team was paired with the hosts, Lennox Orioles. The tournament took place Nov. 4.

The Lennox Orioles came out with a quick lead in the first game, getting on top and leading the Eagles 25-21. Game two, the Eagles were out for a win on this one, but came up short again, 25-22.

But when it seemed done for the I-W Eagles, they came back in the third game to get a win, 21-25. Lennox ended the Blue and White's season with a 25-20 win. The Eagles put up a great fight in their first class "A" districts.

Shawna Knutson had one kill, seven points, three aces, and went 12 for 13 on her serving. Jessie Stockland had seven kills and three blocks. Pam Kathol went 17 of 18 on her serves, getting 10 points, two aces, one block and two kills. Tiffany Ganschow received 12-13 on her serves, had three points, and one block.

Kim Jensen, a junior, had seven kills, one kill, and three block kills. Jessie Rudd went 45 of 48 with 11 set assists.

Beresford won District 7A, but fell in Region 4A to Dakota Valley. The Eagles finish their season with a record 8-14, and 3-4 in the Tri-Valley Conference.

The B team finished 15-5. They placed third in the Parker Tournament Oct. 29, which had 14 teams participating.

The C-team also had a tournament in Menno. They placed fourth out of 10 teams. They finished 10-8.
