The theme of this year's celebration, "A Strong America Starts with Great Public Schools" reflects our nation's commitment to all students. We know the time crunch parents, students and teachers face everyday. In part, we celebrate the many unsung efforts and interactions that take place between children, parents, and teachers. If the partnerships between teachers and parents are strong, children's chances of success skyrocket.
Today's teachers do more than teach basic skills. They nurture and inspire children despite the obstacles. They help students learn essential skills not always measured in testing, such as critical thinking, conflict resolution, cooperation, and problem solving, which helps students throughout life.
We can be proud of the job teachers here in Wakonda are doing. Our students are proof that we are making a difference in their lives and that No Child is Left Behind. We want to thank the community and parents for all the support they have given us throughout the past year. Together we can continue to inspire our children to succeed.
