Celebrate Vermillion � Our office has been informed that due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's Celebrate Vermillion event, previously scheduled for New Year's Eve in the DakotaDome, has been cancelled. The Celebrate Vermillion committee apologizes for any inconvenience and is working on making next year's Celebrate Vermillion event bigger and better than ever!
New Year's Eve Party � Join the Eagles for a New Year's Eve Party on Saturday, Dec. 31. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and people can dance to and enjoy music from the Clay Creek Deaf Cowboy Band starting at 9 p.m. The Eagles is located at 114 W. Main St. Vermillion.
Free Christmas Tree Drop Site � The City of Vermillion will be providing a free drop site for Christmas trees. The site is located on Broadway Street, west of Dakota Street, and in the lot to the south side of the street. Trees will be accepted until Jan. 23.
City Council Meeting � The Vermillion City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Neuharth Center. City Council agendas are available at www.cityofvermillion.com.
City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of every month. You can view the council meetings on Cable Channel 3.
Dakota Farm Show � The farm show will be held in the DakotaDome on Jan. 4-6 and is sponsored by Midwest Shows. For more information, please call 1-800-873-1411. Big Friends-Little Friends, Inc. � Big Friends-Little Friends made another match in Vermillion. Diann Huddleson and Heidi were matched on Dec. 13, only a month after her sister had been matched. The program continues to need male and female volunteer mentors who are at least 18 years old. There are three girls and two boys waiting for a Big Friend.
Also, there are two boys in Irene, and an 18-year-old girl in Parker that would like to match with a girl 8 to 11 years old in the Parker/Viborg area. To sign up a girl in this area, or to serve as a male volunteer in Irene, please call 1-605-421-5050 as soon as possible, so a match can be made.
