  • Free Movie � Saturday, Dec. 17. Vermillion Theater/Hollywood Video will be showing Madagascar free for the kids. Shows start at 1 and 3 p.m., giving parents time to do some holiday shopping!
  • Congratulations � The Grand Prize Drawing for the Holiday Shopping Card promotion for $350 in Vermillion Bucks was held on Monday, Dec. 12. Sylvia Lynch of Burbank was the grand prize winner! Sylvia turned her card in at Willson Florist. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Holiday Shopping Card promotion. Our office received cards totaling over $40,000 spent locally during the promotion. Thanks for supporting your local merchants.

  • First Dakota Holiday Open House � First Dakota National Bank will be having a holiday open house on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Please join the First Dakota team for holiday fun!
  • Customer Appreciation Day � Join Herren-Schempp Building Supply for their customer appreciation day on Friday, Dec.16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • USD vs. Briar Cliff � Come to cheer on the USD Men's Basketball Team on Friday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. at the DakotaDome. Go Yotes!!
  • Book Drive � Help fill the libraries emptied by Hurricane Katrina. Many libraries along the Gulf Coast lost their collections to the hurricane. Join the USD School of Education and I.D. Weeks Library to help restock their shelves. We know many of you have extra books around your house and office. Donate all kinds of books, in good condition, at the following locations: Delzell Education Building at USD, ID Weeks Library at USD, Book & Supply at 440 E. Cherry Street, and Vermillion Public Library at 18 Church Street. Cash donations for books and for postage will also be accepted.   • Seniors Christmas Dinner � Join the Senior Center on Friday, Dec. 16 for their Seniors Christmas Dinner. Hors d'oeurves and beverages will be served at 5 p.m., with dinner beginning at 5:45 p.m. There are only 100 tickets being sold for this special event. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. Omega ESA will be serving hors d'oeuvres and Alpha Lambda ESA will be providing dessert and setting the tables.   • CPR Class � Sioux Valley Vermillion will be offering CPR class on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. at William J. Radigan Fire/EMS Station, 820 N. Dakota Street. All CPR classes include adult, child, infant and AED. $20 per class with limited class sizes and pre-registration required. For more information contact 677-7053. Classes are sponsored by the Vermillion Ambulance Association and Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
  • City Council Meeting � Monday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Neuharth Center. City Council agendas are available at City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of every month. You can view the council meetings on Cable Channel 3.
  • Vermillion Chamber & Development Company Events Calendar � Our Web site now has an events calendar. The public can add events to the calendar and view what is going on in the community. Go to, then go to the left hand side of the screen and click on the "Events" button, and then "Community Calendar" button. Once you've saved the event we will review and post it on the calendar.
