Led by four players in double figures, the Coyotes held a 43-32 advantage at halftime and twice built its lead to 20 points in the second half and once led by 21.
Senior All-American forward Turner Trofholz (Schuyler, NE) paced USD with his fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and tied his season-high with 15 rebounds. It was the seventh-straight game he has scored 20 or more points.
For the game, USD connected on 24-of-53 field goals (45.3 percent), including 12-of-30 (40 percent) three-pointers.
The Coyotes, who outrebounded UDC, 43-35, shot a season-high 89.7 percent at the foul line by making 16-of-19 attempts.
Jumaane Sorrells, the Firebirds leading scorer, finished with a game-high 32 points, while Frank Peterson added 13 first-half points, but was held scoreless in the final 20 minutes.
UDC shot 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the field and was 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) behind the three-point arc. At the charity stripe, the Firebirds were 6-of-13 for 46.2 percent.
