Motor Vehicles Division Director Debra Hillmer says the recent blizzard which dropped several feet of snow across South Dakota and caused extensive power outages in the eastern part of the state caused many county offices to close this week and prevented vehicle owners in many areas from traveling to those offices that did remain open.
In response to that situation, individuals whose vehicle license plates were up for renewal by Nov. 30 will have two more weeks to get it done.
Individuals taking advantage of the two-week extension period are reminded to bring the necessary documents with them to their county treasurer's office at the time of renewal.
