Lonning, Johnson receive Proud Lion Award Nov. 17

Vermillion Lions Club members Jacqueline Lonning and Maxine Johnson were presented the Proud Lion award from Yankton Lions Club member Catherine French at the Vermillion Nov. 17 club meeting. This award can be earned by first-year members and was created in 2000 by Lion French.

She developed the criteria for the award which includes the completion of seven tasks and includes such things as participation in service projects, bringing a guest for a meeting, and attending meetings at different levels in other towns. Lion French felt that if new Lion members get involved in various activities during the first year they will develop a service project enthusiasm and be retained as productive club members.

Lion Lonning was sponsored into membership by Lion Barbara Campbell and Lion Maxine by Lion Allen Johnson.
