Freshman forward Bridget Yoerger recorded her first career double double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the South Dakota women's basketball team (10-2) to its seventh straight win with a 77-40 win over Mount Marty (7-7) in nonconference basketball at the DakotaDome Dec. 18.
Yoerger of Hinton, IA, made 8-of-14 field goals, including 4-of-7 from the foul line as she scored 20 points or more for the third time this season. She reached double digits for the ninth straight game and 10th time overall this season. Yoerger also had two assists and a blocked shot.
Sophomore Ashley Bjorkman of Vermillion also reached double figures with 15 points. Bjorkman made 5-of-6 three-point field goals. Meghan Woster, a senior point guard from Sioux Falls, had a game-high nine assists while also scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds. Senior guard Brittany Bessert of Fort Collins, CO, added eight points and eight rebounds.

USD, which improved its home record to 6-0, made 28-of-61 field goals for 45.9 percent, including 16-of-31 field goals (51.6 percent) in the second half. USD reached double digits in made three-pointers for the sixth time this season by making 13-of-26 shots for 50 percent.
USD also hit 8-of-15 free throws for 53.3 percent. Mount Marty made 16-of-58 field goals for 27.6 percent. The Lancers converted just 4-of-25 three-point field goals for 16 percent. They also struggled at the foul line, hitting just 4-of-12 charity tosses for 33.3 percent.
The Lancers jumped to an early lead against the Coyotes, opening up a 19-12 advantage at the 10:40 mark of the first half. From that point, USD took off on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes to grab a 25-19 lead with 6:44 to play. Bjorkman had a pair of three-point baskets to key the Coyotes' run.
A jumper by Yoerger gave USD a 30-21 lead with 3:47 to play in the opening stanza. After Mount Marty's early seven-point lead, USD closed the half on a 22-7 run to grab a 34-26 halftime lead.
In the first half, USD made 12-of-30 field goals for 40 percent, including 7-of-13 from three-point range. Mount Marty was 11-of-32 from the field, including 4-of-15 from three-point range.
After the break, the Coyotes put the defensive clamps on the Lancers by allowing just five points in the first 11 minutes of the half. USD used 27-5 run to open up a 61-31 lead at the 9:09 mark. A three-pointer (7:14) and a lay-up by Janielle Bryan (Bellevue, NE) at the 6:19 mark built USD's lead to 70-37. A free throw by Bryan, who had seven points and six rebounds, provided USD with its biggest lead of the game at 77-39 with 33 seconds left in the game. USD outscored Mount Marty, 65-20, over the final 29:20 of the game.
South Dakota will play in the Augustana Classic on Dec. 28-29 in Sioux Falls. USD will face Winona State on Dec. 28 and Upper Iowa on Dec. 29 with both games scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
