The loss gave Vermillion a record of 0-2 while Lennox moved to 1-0.
"The freshmen played better in the second half," said coach Eric Van Laecken. "They are understanding the level of play they need to be at."
The Tanagers fell behind 9-8 at the end of the first period, trailed 17-11 after the second period, and then trailed 30-19 going into the final period.
Vermillion sank 9 of 15 from the line while LHS connected on 2 of 6 free throw tries.
The Tanagers had some excellent individual performances in defeat.
"Sam McBride did a great job handling the ball and running the offense," coach Van Laecken said. "He needs to continue to be a leader."
