Vermillion residents help promote civic education

Four South Dakota high schools traveled to Chamberlain for the state "We the People" competition on Monday, Dec. 5. Spearfish, Tea Area, Colman-Egan and Marion high schools competed in this event, sponsored by the Center for Civic Education and the South Dakota Humanities Council.

"We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution" is part of the national "We the People" program, funded by Congress. Spearfish High School won the competition and will represent the state at the national competition this spring in Washington, DC.

Vermillion residents Sherri Rodgers and Kelsey Collier-Wise, both of S.D. Public Broadcasting, volunteered to judge the competition.
