VHS freshmen fall 29-20
The Vermillion Tanagers were topped by the Harrisburg 29-20 in boys basketball Dec. 9 at Harrisburg as the winners held the lead after each quarter.

The season-opening loss gave Vermillion freshmen a record of 0-1 while HHS moved to 1-0.

"We played well on defense but as they become more comfortable with the high school level of basketball, the more comfortable they will become with the system," said Vermillion freshmen coach Eric Vanlacken.

The Tanagers trailed 11-7 after the first quarter, trailed 18-15 at halftime, and then trailed 25-17 going into the final period.

The Vermillion freshmen connected on 1 of 3 three-point attempts and sank 2 of 6 from the line. The Tanagers hit 7 of 35 field goal attempts, while HHS was 12 of 40 from the field. HHS connected on 1 of 3 three-point tries and sank 2 of 6 free throw tries.
