The loss gave the Tanagers a record of 0-2 while Lennox moved to 1-0.
"It's always a tough game between us and Lennox," said coach Jon Reuvers. "We played well but came up short due to our lack of execution."
Lennox jumped in front 11-3 after the first quarter, and held an edge of 13-12 in the second quarter. Vermillion had an advantage of 14-12 in the third period to shave the deficit to only 36-29 going into the final period.
The Tanagers hit 2 of 6 three-point tries and sank 16 of 28 from the line. Vermillion hit 13 of 38 from the field, while Lennox was 16 of 41 from the field. Lennox connected on 3 of 7 three-pointers and sank 12 of 29 free throw tries.
