  • Brown Bag Lunch Program � Happy Birthday, Mozart! Come join John Thomson, violin, and Susanne Skyrm, piano, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfang Amadeus Mozart. Come listen to the show at the National Music Museum on Friday, Jan. 27 starting at 12:05 p.m.
  • Wal-Mart Grand Opening � Wal-Mart will be opening for business on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Vermillion Area Arts Council Fund Raiser � Come to the Vermillion Area Arts Council (VAAC) Fund Raiser Soup and Music Supper on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 202 Washington St. in Vermillion. Tickets are $10 for VAAC members and $12 for non-members. This will buy all the homemade soup and Mr. Smith's bread you can eat! For $10 more receive a handmade commemorative ceramic bowl made by artist Amy Fill.

  • Women's basketball � The University of South Dakota women's basketball team will be hosting Minnesota State University-Mankato in the DakotaDome on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. Go Yotes!!!
  • Men's basketball � The University of South Dakota men's basketball team will be hosting Minnesota State University-Mankato in the DakotaDome on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. Go Yotes!!!
  • Vermillion Eagles � Join the Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 8:30 p.m. for a cribbage tournament and midget wrestling guaranteed to be a night of fun!
  • Red Dot Sale Events � The Vermillion Chamber of Commerce and Development Company will be promoting the Red Dot Sale Event promotion again this year. Red Dot Sale Events will be on the first Friday and Saturday of every month starting in February. Look for information in the Broadcaster and listen to local radio for details on the program and how this promotion, sponsored by the VCDC and local businesses, can benefit you as a consumer!
  • W.H. Over Museum � 40th annual meeting, Sunday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. Program "Being a Cowboy Poet" with a speaker at 4:15 p.m. (Reminder to members � please bring desserts.)
  • State One-Act Play Festival at USD � Schools from across the state, in class AA, A, and B, will compete for individual and ensemble performance awards. Performances, which occur on a 45 minute rotation, are free and open to the public. The festival will be at the Wayne S. Knutson Theatre beginning Thursday, Feb. 2 running through Saturday, Feb. 4.
  • USD & Vermillion Day in Pierre � Join us Monday, Feb. 13 for USD & Vermillion Day in Pierre! The city of Vermillion has chartered a bus for the day. The bus will leave at 6 a.m. and return after the USD Alumni event, leaving Pierre about 8 p.m. and getting back to Vermillion around midnight. The cost is $25 per person for the round trip. Reservations can be made with Joan Tolsma or City Manager John Prescott at City Hall by calling 677-7050.
  • Events in Pierre include:
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. � Lunch in the Capitol Rotunda featuring student athletes including members of the 2005 Coyote football and cross country teams. The lunch is hosted by the USD Alumni Association and the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce & Development Company.
  • 2 to 5 p.m. � Watch the House and Senate in session at the Capitol. Tours of Pierre attractions are also available.
  • 6 to 8 p.m. � Social at the Ramkota Hotel for alumni and friends. The event will feature student athletes and coaches. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Hosted by the USD Alumni Association with music provided by USD musicians.
  • VCDC Annual Banquet � Mark your calendars! The VCDC annual banquet has been scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 with a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. at the Eagles in Vermillion. More information on this event will be coming out soon!
