Poor shooting Tanagers overwhelmed by Lennox
The Vermillion JV Tanagers were defeated by the Lennox Orioles 42-16 in girls' basketball Jan. 20 at Lennox as the Tanagers shot only 20 percent from the field.

"We couldn't handle their press," said VHS coach Lenni Billberg. "This was our worst showing of the season."

The loss was aided by the Tanagers committing 23 turnovers.


The Tanagers trailed 12-4 at the end of the first period, trailed 20-9 at halftime, and then trailed 30-12 after the third period.

VHS saw its record fall to 1-6, while LHS upped its mark to 5-2.

VHS made 0 of 3 three-point tries and connected on 6 of 9 free throw attempts. The Tanagers sank 5 of 25 from the field, while LHS was 15 of 40 from the field. LHS sank 2 of 8 three-point tries and hit 10 of 16 free throw tries.
